Chery South Africa says it will add the iCAUR electric brand to its local portfolio next year.

The announcement follows the brand’s local reveal at the 2025 Festival of Motoring.

This means the Chinese importer will have a total of five sub-brands in South African showrooms next year: Lepas (the luxury brand also set to launch in 2026), Chery, Jaecoo, Omoda and iCAUR.

Chery South Africa says iCAUR will enter South Africa with the ambition “to help accelerate the shift toward smarter, greener transportation, while bringing something fresh and emotionally engaging to Mzansi’s roads”.

“As the world embraces a new era of clean mobility, South African motorists deserve access to electrified vehicles that are as expressive as they are intelligent,” says iCAUR South Africa (SA) national brand and marketing manager Shannon Gahagan.

“iCAUR brings a new energy to the market, combining striking design with advanced EV technology and a playful, user-centric spirit.

“We’re here to make electric motoring more personal, more joyful and, importantly, more accessible.”

iCAUR SA is in the process of finalising its retail network, with the first dealerships planned for the country’s key metropolitan hubs.

The brand aims to establish a footprint of 15 dealerships by the time of launch.

“South Africa is a country with a rich outdoor lifestyle, vibrant urban culture and an increasingly energy-conscious mindset,” says Gahagan. “These are the communities iCAUR is built for.”
